The muted yellow against the fuzzy green and bright white really impacts the eyes.
I adore where the focus lies, on just a few petals on this gorgeous flower, leaving the rest blurred ever so slightly.
It's cute how you can see the fuzz on the stem, it adds character to the picture. Photography of flowers is a varied and wide genre, but you've filled a spot in it wonderfully with this picture.
The only thing I would suggest fixing is the crop. If you were to ever revisit this piece, I'd say take out that little corner on the left where there is an open space, it's slightly distracting seeing that triangle of yellow there.
Everything else is fabulously done. It's hard to be original in this category, but you've put up a beautiful picture of a flower from a different angle. It reminds me of Spring, which I desperately wish was here already, and the lighting is superb, dark and dreary, yet it seems that, to me, it could be the sun rising, lending it's love to this pretty piece of flora. Well done.
Your shot has definately caught my eye. Overall I think it's got catchy colours, with the bright yellow petals imediately stealing the viewer's attention and focus(since they're extremely sharp!) The subject I feel, can be very tricky! Loads of flower-themed photos are posted daily and since flowers are beautiful and naturally perfect it is easy for a photographer to just go snap happy and take the obvious picture focussing on the usual and obvious features of a flower. Here you've gone beyond that and explored other areas and angles of your subject, and personally I think you've managed to capture an interesting viewpoint! On the down side I would have personally tried to keep the stem slightly more in focus and maybe increase the saturation as well. I would also note the picture details like shutter speed, f number, iso speed etc.. since it would be interesting to see them
That being said, I am relatively new to photography as a medium of expression so my opinion is strictly from a composition and artistic point of view rather then from a technical...Overall I think it's a great shot...keep snapping and sharing your art!
